Abstract

There has been considered the radial gas bearing with longitudinal grooves of varying depths, the impact of stepped form of grooves on the characteristics (radial load capacity, rigidity and gas consumption) of bearing has been investigated. It turned out that the proposed form of longitudinal grooves of radial gas bearing, compared with support of sustainable grooves depth and optimum design parameters has a higher dimensionless radial stiffness (20%). The gas flow through the working gap bearing is not dependent on the shape and profile grooves.
