The article explores the potential of robotics as an effective tool for improving the effectiveness of educational activities in the field of engineering education. Thanks to their interdisciplinary nature, robotic systems combine components of electronics, programming, mechatronics and automation, which provides unique opportunities for the formation of complex professional competencies. The role of robotics in the development of project and critical thinking, increasing student motivation, engaging in research, and shaping the professional identity of future specialists is considered.
The study analyses the key areas of implementation of robotics technologies in the educational process: integration into academic disciplines, organization of club activities, completion of course and diploma projects, participation in scientific and technical events, interdisciplinary teams and start-ups. Examples of the successful implementation of such approaches in the educational and scientific practice of the National University “Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic” are shown, through engineering clubs, robotics competitions, hackathons, start-up competitions, participation in international initiatives and internships.
A summary table is provided, illustrating the forms of robotics use and their educational effect. Emphasis is placed on the expediency of using robotics as an educational technology that combines practical significance, innovation, and a high level of students’ involvement.
The materials in the article may be useful for developers of educational programs, teachers of technical specialties’, organizers of STEM education, and heads of educational institutions.
The conclusion is made about the need for a systematic approach to the integration of robotics into higher technical education in order to increase its attractiveness, relevance, and practical orientation
