Formatting Guidelines

INFORMATION FOR AUTHORS

The Editorial Board of the journal “Visnyk of Vinnytsia Polytechnic Institute” accepts for consideration scientific articles presenting new research findings, scientific and technical developments.

All manuscripts submitted to the Editorial Office are checked for plagiarism using certified software. If plagiarism or unreferenced use of material from other sources is detected, the manuscript will be withdrawn from consideration, and the author will receive a plagiarism notification.

If a reader identifies a violation of the journal's academic integrity or publication ethics policy in an already published article, the Editorial Board shall consider the matter at its meeting, together with a written explanation provided by the authors, and shall make a decision on whether to confirm or refute the violation. If the violation is confirmed, the Editorial Board shall declare the article retracted and announce this decision in the next issue of the journal and on the journal's website.

Manuscripts must comply with the following requirements.

Article Structure

  1. The article should be divided into sections with headings that reflect their content.
  2. The article should begin with an Introduction written in a form accessible to a broad range of specialists in the relevant field of science. The Introduction should include:
  • a statement of the problem in general terms and an explanation of its connection with important scientific or practical objectives;
  • an analysis of publications that initiated work on solving the problem and on which the authors' research is based;
  • identification of previously unresolved aspects of the general problem;
  • formulation of the purpose of the article.
  1. The main part of the article should present the findings and results obtained.

The article should not be overloaded with a large number of formulas or with duplication of the same results in tables and graphs.

Long titles of tables and figures should preferably be avoided. Notations and abbreviations defined in the text of the article should be used consistently. Notations and terms that may be unfamiliar to the reader must be explained.

  1. The concluding part should contain, where possible, an example illustrating the effectiveness of the results obtained, as well as conclusions reflecting the main findings and prospects for further research.

The conclusions must fully correspond to the content of the main text.

Article Length

  • review and generalizing articles — up to 10 A4 pages;
  • problem-oriented articles — up to 8 A4 pages;
  • articles addressing a specific scientific problem — 5—7 A4 pages.

Manuscripts exceeding the specified limits will not be accepted by the Editorial Office.

RULES FOR FORMATTING AND SUBMITTING MANUSCRIPTS

Manuscript Submission

The following materials must be submitted to the Editorial Office via the OJS system or by email:

  • an electronic version of the article manuscript in DOCX format;
  • a separate file containing information about the authors in Ukrainian and English, including:
    • first name, patronymic (if applicable), and surname;
    • academic degree and academic title (if applicable);
    • position and full name of the institution;
    • ORCID (https://orcid.org/xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx);
    • contact email address;
    • telephone number of the author (co-author) authorized to communicate with the Editorial Office.

The manuscript must be carefully proofread before submission. No further corrections and additions are allowed.

Manuscript Formatting Requirements

The article must be written in Ukrainian and prepared on A4-size pages.

Margins: 3 cm on the left, 1.5 cm on the right, and 2 cm top and bottom.

  1. The article should be prepared using Microsoft Office Word, with Times New Roman, 11 pt, and single line spacing. All manuscript pages must be numbered at the bottom left using Arial, 10 pt.

  1. Article Structure

2.1. UDC.  The UDC (Universal Decimal Classification) index must be indicated in the upper-left corner of the manuscript (Times New Roman, 11 pt, left-aligned).

2.2. Title Information

2.2.1. Authors' initials and surnames should be typed in bold, each author on a separate line (Times New Roman, 14 pt, right-aligned).

2.2.2. The article title should be given on the next line, in bold uppercase letters, centered (Times New Roman, 16 pt).

2.2.3. The names of the institutions where the authors work should be given on a new line (Times New Roman, 11 pt, centered).

2.2.4. The abstract should be provided on a new line. The abstract must contain at least 1,800 characters (Arial, 9.5 pt, italic, justified).

2.2.5. On a new line, under the bold heading “Keywords:”, provide a list of keywords (Arial, 9.5 pt, justified).

2.3. Main Text

2.3.1. The Introduction should begin on a new line. All section headings in the article should be formatted in Times New Roman, 11 pt, bold, centered, with 10 pt spacing before and 6 pt spacing after.

2.3.2. The main body of the article, presenting the research results, follows the Introduction (Times New Roman, 11 pt, justified, line spacing “At least 12 pt”).

2.3.3. The Conclusions follow the main body of the article.

2.4. Use of Artificial Intelligence Technologies

In accordance with the Law of Ukraine “On Academic Integrity” of December 18, 2025, No. 4742-IX, authors are responsible for the accuracy, originality, and academic integrity of the research results submitted for publication. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, including generative AI, is permitted only as an auxiliary tool and may not replace the author's own intellectual contribution.

2.4.1. Disclosure of AI Use

If generative AI or AI-assisted technologies were used in preparing the article, the authors must transparently disclose such use.

The AI use disclosure must be placed at the end of the manuscript, immediately before the References, as a separate section entitled “Use of Artificial Intelligence Technologies.”

The disclosure must specify:

  1. the name of the AI tool used and its developer;
  2. where possible, the name of the model or version of the tool;
  3. the purpose and nature of its use;
  4. where necessary, the stage of article preparation or research at which AI was used.

Recommended disclosure statement:

Use of Artificial Intelligence Technologies. In preparing this article, the authors used [name of AI tool, developer] for [specify purpose of use]. The results obtained with the assistance of this tool were reviewed and edited by the authors. The authors take full responsibility for the content, accuracy, and originality of the article.

2.4.2. AI Used in the Research Process

If AI was used directly during the research process, including for data analysis, mathematical modeling, software development or debugging, data generation or processing, parameter optimization, or other stages of the research process, the relevant information must additionally be provided in the “Materials and Methods” section or another appropriate section of the article.

Basic use of tools for checking spelling, grammar, and punctuation that does not alter the content or structure of the scientific work does not require separate disclosure.

In accordance with the principles of academic integrity, it is not permitted to present AI-generated results, texts, data, conclusions, images, software code, or other materials as the author's own scientific results without proper disclosure of the fact and nature of their use.

The use of fabricated or unverified data, facts, sources, citations, or results generated by AI is also prohibited.

AI systems cannot be listed as authors or co-authors of an article.

Authors bear full responsibility for the content of the article and for verifying all materials obtained with the assistance of AI.

When using external AI services, authors must comply with requirements concerning confidentiality, personal data protection, copyright, and intellectual property rights.

2.5. References

The REFERENCES should be provided on a new line and formatted according to the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Citation Style, as a single list arranged in the order in which references are cited in the text, not alphabetically.

In the manuscript text, references should be given individually in square brackets, e.g. [1], [2].

Formatting: Times New Roman, 9 pt, left-aligned, line spacing “At least 10 pt.”

  • The References must include scientific articles indexed in the international bibliographic databases Scopus and/or Web of Science. The relevant database type (Scopus or WoS) must be indicated.
  • For scientific articles and other sources that have a DOI, the DOI must be provided as an active hyperlink in the following format: https://doi.org/xxxxx.

Example: I. Ivanov, “Title of the article,” Journal Name, vol. 10, no. 2, pp. 100-110, 2022. https://doi.org/10.xxxx/xxxxx.

  • For sources that do not have a DOI, including books, conference proceedings, reports, etc., an active hyperlink to the official source must be provided (publisher's website, electronic library, repository, etc.). The link must provide access to the full text or a correct bibliographic record.

Example: P. Petrenko, Title of the book. [Online]. Available: https://publisher-site.com/book.

  • The use of shortened URLs (bit.ly, tinyurl, etc.) is prohibited. Authors are encouraged to verify the availability of DOI identifiers through official registries, such as Crossref. Priority should be given to sources indexed in international bibliographic databases (Scopus, Web of Science). The use of recent sources, preferably published within the last 5–15 years, is recommended.
  • References to unpublished works are not permitted.

2.5.1 The proportion of self-citations in the reference list of a manuscript should not exceed 10–15% of the total number of bibliographic references. For articles authored by multiple authors, a cumulative proportion of self-citations of up to 20–25% is permitted, provided that such citations are directly relevant to and scientifically justified by the subject matter of the article.

For the purposes of this requirement, self-citations are understood as references to scientific publications previously authored or co-authored by the author(s) of the submitted manuscript. Self-citations should be included only where they are necessary to substantiate the research problem, present previous research findings, describe the methodology, establish the theoretical framework, or demonstrate the development of the scientific results presented in the manuscript.

Artificial inflation of the number of self-citations for the purpose of increasing citation metrics of the author(s) or affiliated publications is not permitted.

The Editorial Board reserves the right to assess the relevance and appropriateness of self-citations during the editorial screening and peer-review process.

2.6. Information about the Authors

Information about each author must be provided in Ukrainian, including:

  • surname, first name, and patronymic (without abbreviations, in bold italic);
  • academic degree;
  • academic title;
  • position;
  • full name of the institution;
  • city;
  • authors' email addresses;
  • author's ORCID: https://orcid.org/xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx.

2.7. English-Language Elements

All elements specified in Sections 2.2.1–2.2.5 and Section 2.5 must also be provided in English.

  1. Units of Measurement

The International System of Units (SI) should be used throughout the article.

  1. Mathematical Formulas

Formulas must be prepared using a formula editor (Equation 3.0 or MathType), using Latin and Greek letters.

The use of letters from the Cyrillic alphabet, including in subscripts, is not permitted.

Each formula must be inserted as a single object with the following sizes:

  • full — 11 pt;
  • subscript — 8 pt;
  • sub-subscript/superscript — 6 pt;
  • symbol — 12 pt.

Formula editors should not be used for variables in the text, except where necessary, for example, for variables containing both upper and lower indices.

  1. Illustrations

Illustrations must be inserted directly into the article text, without OLE links, with each illustration inserted as a single object.

Each illustration should be placed after its first reference in the text.

  1. Tables

Each table must have a number and a title.

Manuscripts that do not comply with the requirements and rules specified above will not be accepted for consideration.

Editorial changes may be made to the text of an article without the author's approval.

No author remuneration is paid.

The final decision regarding publication of articles is made by the Academic Council of Vinnytsia National Technical University (VNTU).

Publication Fees

The journal “Visnyk of Vinnytsia Politechnical Institute” does not charge any fees for submission, review, or publication of manuscripts.

Publication of an article in the journal is completely free of charge.
