Abstract

The main purpose of the wide area measurement system (WAMS) development is to increase the reliability and quality of power supply by analyzing the characteristics of the electrical power system using synchronized measurement of electromechanical transients. WAMS’s data processing allows estimating dynamic characteristics of the electrical power system (EPS) in real time. This work is devoted to the study of the EPS electromechanical transients to estimate groups of coherent generators (CGG) the composition of which is invariant with respect to the place and the nature of the disturbance. The relevance of the study is determined by the possible violations of the static stability of EPS at frequencies corresponding to vibration modes of coherent groups of generators with slow coherence. The article analyzes the EPS transients and defines composition and characteristics CGG with slow coherence.
