Establishing the Regression Dependence of Boiler Efficiency while Combusting Biomass on its Moisture
Keywords
Abstract
Biomass utilization by combustion makes it possible to reduce the consumption of traditional energy resources, which corresponds to the global trend towards the introduction of alternative and renewable energy sources and increasing the overall energy efficiency of industrial production. In this context, determining the regression dependence of the boiler efficiency on biomass moisture is an urgent scientific and technical task, since it can serve as the basis for developing an engineering methodology for calculating energy-efficient biomass combustion systems. The purpose of this study is to establish, using regression analysis, a functional relationship between the boiler efficiency and biomass moisture, which can be additionally applied in the development of an engineering methodology for designing energy-efficient thermal equipment. The study used regression analysis of single-factor experimental results and other pairwise dependencies, while the most adequate function was selected from sixteen common functional forms according to the criterion of the maximum correlation coefficient. Nonlinear dependencies were linearized using the appropriate linearizing mathematical transformations. The coefficients of the regression equations were determined using the least squares method, implemented in a specially developed computer program "RegAnaliz". As a result, a regression equation was obtained that describes the dependence of the boiler efficiency on the biomass moisture content. This relationship can be used for engineering calculations of equipment parameters to increase the energy efficiency of biomass combustion. Graphical interpretation of the obtained dependence was also constructed, which provides a clear visual representation and demonstrates an acceptable correspondence between theoretical predictions and experimental data. It was found that the boiler efficiency decreases with increasing moisture content in biomass according to the power law of dependence.
